The good people of Cross River Northern Senatorial District have expressed maximum satisfaction with the sterling performances of Distinguished Senator Stephen Adi Odey Ph.D in the Red Chambers, they noted that Senator Odey has shown content by his unprecedented outings at the Red Chamber.

Some have described Senator Odey as a pacesetter whose footprints are all over the 9th Senate as he is truly poised to changing the narratives of representation in CRN. 

The achievements recorded by Senator Odey in the senate are superlative, as no Senator in the history of Cross River North has achieved such feat within this short period of time. Sincerely he is an astute performer who remains unperturbed even in the wake of turbulent distractions from political opponents. 

Recall that Distinguished Senator Stephen Adi Odey, Ph.D was declared winner of the December 5th, 2020 Cross River North Senatorial District Bye-election by INEC, issued Certificate of Return by INEC,  where he was later consequently sworn in December 16th, 2020 by The SENATE 🇳🇬 took oaths of Office/Allegiance as a Senator of the the Federal Republic of Nigeria. 

However, Hon. Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, Member representing Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency  whom he defeated at the PDP Primaries with a margin of 450 to 90 votes has engaged him in a fierce legal battle and has repeatedly failed through forum shopping, fraudulent procurement of court judgements, criminally procuring a CoR likened to a Zimbabwean currency. Similarly, Joe Agi SAN, his major APC contender in the bye-election whom he also defeated, scored 19,165 votes against the winner, Senator Odey who scored 129, 207 votes also engages Senator Odey at the election petition tribunal in Calabar. 

In the midst of these political events, Senator Odey remains dogged and resilient and have recorded unprecedented achievements. His activities in the senate are quite commendable and impressive, which include but not limited to the following: 

i) Sponsorship of 2 bills:

a) A bill for the establishment of Institute of Communication Technology OGOJA, 2021 which has already passed second reading. 

b) Compulsory Free Universal Education Act CAP C52 LFN 2004(Amendment)Bill, 2021 has also passed first reading

ii) Moved 1 motion on Safe School Child Initiative Nigeria

iii) Supported the motion to establish University Teaching Hospital for Federal University of Lafia. 

iv) Contributed to the issue of security in the country and suggested a template to be used in curbing the menace of insecurity.

v) Facilitated N30,000 survival fund for 384 Constituents. 

vi) Inclusion as member into 9 strategic Senate Committees. 

vii) Resumption of duty in the various committees he belongs.

ix) 100% attendance in all plenaries immediately he was sworn in.

x) Supported a Bill for an Act to amend the Court of Appeal Act 2013 by increasing the number of Justices in the Court of Appeal from Ninety to One Hundred and Ten and for other related matter. 

xi) Senator Odey has also moved a motion for urgent intervention of the Federal Government on the Federal roads in Cross River North Senatorial District, they include:

1. Okuku- Echumoga-Alifokpa-Yache- Benue community border road.

2. Yahe- Ebo- Wanakom- Wanikade-Wanihem- Benue community border road.

3. Imaje-Abuochiche-Akpakpa-Gakem road.

 Senator Odey has demonstrated genuine capacity both in human capital and infrastructure wise, not the 'cosmetic-capacity' to hoodwink the general public like some selfish/greedy politicians. Recall that as a then PA/SA to Senator (Prof) Ayade, Odey facilitated 9 Federal jobs to indigenes of CRN, in the health sector he also facilitated the construction of the Comprehensive Primary Health Centre located in Uchu-Yache. He will always be remembered for the introduction of computers and building of storey building in primary schools in the state. Senator Odey is also a known bridge builder, who has severally panned the Akreha (River Okpoku) bridge, intervened on the culvert at Yabu by Echumoga road, personally  constructed boreholes at Osina and Endichwi-Ewor(Alifokpa) Yache communities, as Acting Managing Director Cross River State Water Board Ltd. he regularized about 500 casual staff, etc. In his recent 'Thank You Tour'' of his CRN Senatorial District, he gifted three (3) cars to some of his dedicated supporters without announcing it as he further assures of a continuous empowerment programmes, date for a mega empowerment shall be communicated in due course. Truly Senator Dr. (Barr) Steve Odey is a silent achiever.

Senator Odey has carved a niche for the good people of CRN through his superlative performance; Cross River North now has an active voice.

Constituents are thus enjoined to keep faith with him and pray for more sustainable dividends to our people, state and nation.
