CORONA VIRUS IN OGOJA, HON ISHABOR MEETS WITH GENERAL HOSPITAL MANAGEMENT.

With the one confirm case of Corona Virus in Ogoja Local Government Area, the Local Government Chairman Hon. Emmanuel Ishabor met with the hospital management and the Cross State COVID-19 team to get a first hand information on the state of things and to know the level of preparedness on the part of the team in other to curb further occurances. According to the leader of the medical team of the hospital Dr. Ochang who noted that work has begun to prevent community transmission. We are working closely with the Primary Health Care to redouble our efforts so that all nooks and crannies of the Local Government is covered in awareness and other preventive measures. Residents Doctors Threaten To Resume Strike, Give FG Three Weeks Ultimatum

The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors on Saturday said it will resume its suspended nationwide strike in three weeks if the Federal Government fails to meet its demands. President of the Association, Aliyu Sokomba, revealed this to journalists in a press conference in Abuja. NARD had, on June 22, suspended its nationwide strike, after a virtual meeting of over 300 of its members. Sokomba, at the time, said the association suspended the strike in order to give the Federal and State Governments time to fulfill its outstanding demands. The association declared an indefinite strike on June 15 over several demands including the provision of adequate PPE for all healthcare workers and immediate reversal of the disengagement of all 26 resident doctors at the University Teaching Hospital in Jos, the Plateau State capital. World Hepatitis Day: Cross River Govt to Conduct free screening

Cross River State Ministry of Health has rolled out activities to mark this year World Hepatitis Day theme; “Hepatitis-free future,” with a strong focus on preventing Hepatitis B (HBV) among mothers and newborns. This was made known by the Honorable Commissioner for Health, Dr Betta Edu on Friday. She said Screening for Hepatitis will take place at Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Hope Waddell Parish, Calabar beginning from tomorrow being Sunday 26th July 2020, and will continue on Monday at the state ministry of Health. Edu said the aim of the day is to enhance awareness of viral hepatitis, an inflammation of the liver that causes a range of health problems, including liver cancer. Adagon Refugee Camp In Ogoja Calls For Support During This Pandemic

By-Nura Whyte Adagon 1 is a settlement in the Ogoja province of Cross River State, which harbours refugees from Cameroon, it has over 14000 Refugees,as at the time of  glitztv  Magazine visit. The DG of SEMA,Mr princewill Ayim who was represented by the supervisor Mr Hillary Agiga said since the settlement came into existence in 2017,it has received great support from local and international donors especially from United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, UNHCR. “They have always shown support for the refugees”. He said due to the current pandemic, they are passing through a lot of challenges especially funding,as a lot of the refugees came with their families, he said initially UNHCR pays a token of 7200 to each person, but was reduced 5600 and later to 4600 per person.
